Our house (a tear down and new build in Chevy Chase, MD) was completed in late 2019 and we are extremely pleased with the results and with the working relationship we developed with the Chesapeake team. We actually worked with Adam, based upon recommendations from acquaintances, to assess the property we ultimately purchased and renovated. Based upon the recommendations we received and our initial meetings with Adam and the team we felt comfortable that we could work with them and that they would be honest and forthright. We had some concerns about reaching out to a builder regarding a property that we were aware of that had not yet been placed on the market – if the builder was dishonest in that situation then a number of problems could arise. We didn’t have any cause for concern with Adam and he helped us assess the property to understand what our options were before we made an offer…

Throughout our build process I always felt we could reach out to Adam, Mel, or Tim (site manager) and they were responsive. From our perspective the tear down and build was complex and involved many decisions and moving parts (including working with a separate architect). Based upon comparative stories from friends, my impression is that our process went very well – there were minor items here and there that popped up as I would expect with any project like this, but we avoided any major issues. I’d also say I think they were very direct and transparent regarding costs and pricing. They told us what they anticipated items would cost and allowed us to make decisions to guide the budget and worked with us on how to best structure the contract to allow us flexibility to decide some aspects later in the process. In each instance in which change orders were necessary I also felt they were transparent. Once we started the build I felt they were diligent and focused and pushed to move the project forward so that we ultimately made it into the house within our targeted timeframe.
